BonePage supports the movement to decriminalize sex work around the world. The unfortunate reality is that transgender sex workers (especially those of color) and other sex providers often find themselves victims of heinous crimes such as kidnapping, assaults and human trafficking. Criminalization tends to push sex work underground and makes sex worker victims less likely to report crimes committed against them. They are also less likely to have access to health care and social services which exacerbates the personal risks of violence, STDs and mental health issues. 

Consider the disparity of current laws that usually penalize transgender sex workers and other sex providers more harshly than their clients. This means that those most vulnerable—typically women, LGBTQ+ people, and people of color—face the brunt of legal consequences. Meanwhile, customers, or “Johns,” often escape with minimal repercussions. This imbalance reinforces systemic inequalities, reinforcing existing discrimination against trans people.
